Celebrated "Social Workers Day" on August 1st 2002 at National College, Basavanagudi, Bangalore. Visited Nimhans hospital Ladies ward distributed fruits and entertained them by singing on August 15th 2002. Visited an orphanage in Lingarajapuram located in the outskirts of Bangalore. Played cricket with children, arranged entertaining programs like mimicry, dancing, singing. The children responded us back by writing mails which made us to visit the orphanage again.A kind of relationship was set between us and children. We conducted painting competition and quiz in the next visit. We felt a sort of satisfaction which we think as invaluable. Then it was on October 2nd on the holy day of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri's birthday, we installed a hoarding in the heart of Bangalore city near Mysore Bank circle. The hoarding carried 'The Fundamental Duties of an Indian Citizen'. We inaugurated the hoarding in the presence of public. The theme behind doing this was to make citizens aware about their duties whenever they happen to go through this board. Our idea is to install such hoardings at main places of Bangalore. Meanwhile we have been visiting Kannada poets, independence fighters and take their opinions/suggestions/criticisms so that we fine tune our minds. We don't want our efforts to go waste, so we thought this would be one of the better ways to channelise our efforts towards a better goal. We inaugurated the Environment friendly paper bags in association with 'Abalashram ' in the month of January 2003. The intention behind this was to support the efforts of government to ban the use of plastic bags. Ladies at "Abalashram" manufacture the paper bags which is a source of income for those orphan ladies. Then it was the time of summer holidays for schools. We wanted to use this opportunity to conduct a summer camp "Nammilana" for a period of one week in the month of April 2003. The features/ attractions of the camp were the story of Ramayana told to children by a renowned author who himself has written Ramayana in poetic form. The children took the camp very seriously in learning the basics of Vedic mathematics, painting, paper aircraft model making. The children were trained to enact a play on the finishing day of the camp in front of their parents. The parents urged us to continue the camp for a month. As we were short of resources we had to disappoint them. Our next program was organized on 29th of June,2003. The objective of this program was to bring the knowledge of all districts of Karnataka to the school children. Children from three schools participated in the program. Samaja Sevakara Samithi conducted a grand function to celebrate the first anniversary of "Social Workers Day- August 1st". The function was organized in the prestigous Dr. H.N. Hall, National College, Bangalore. Various social workers from different from spectrum of society were recognized & honoured on this memorable occasion. Members of the SSS played a small drama called "KANATA" to induce willingness of social service in the hearts of audience. Samaja Sevakara Samithi celebrated "Indian Independence Day" on August 15th by interacting with Senior citizens, creating awareness in the public at Hariharagudda about the Indian Independence & singing patriotic songs with the public. "SSS and Minchu Ideas" joined hands and organized several programs on Republic Day. In the early hours of the morning of January 26, 2004 members of SSS and Minchu Ideas started their first program at Govt School, Hanumanth Nagar. The school authorities were impressed with the theme, of making students identify grams and leaves as part of the Republic Day competition, formulated by SSS. Alongside this innovative competition, "Mr.Janardhan" of Minchu Ideas team addressed children on the rights and duties of children according to the constitution, thereby imbibing the importance of Republic day among children. The enthralled children relished the sweets distributed by SSS and School authorities at the end of the informative function. Later in the day "SSS and Minchu Ideas" were found staging an awareness drama based on khadi promotion in "Khadi Utsav - 2004" at Makkalakuta, Bangalore. The astounding response recieved for this 15 min drama should be credited to Mr. Madhusudan, an active member of SSS, who wrote an inspiring script for the drama and directed it to perfection. Though only an hour of rehearsal effort was put on the skit the performance was as good as any other well rehearsed skit. SSS congratulates the participants Madhusudhan, Rajesh and Rajkumar for their combined effort. Although it took a lot of struggle from the members to get permission from the management for hosting such a program, at the end of it we were able to convince the authorities The enlightning drama was followed by the release of a new pamphlet(brochure) "Hallig Naaven Maadona?" (What can we do for the village?) which was distributed among the audience and visitors. The pamphlet was the result of an effort to stress the importance of villages and farmers to the urban people. The quotes compiled by Madhusudan and Rajesh in the pamphlet got good appreciation. This was not all, young singing sensation Kum. Mythri Bhat entertained the crowd with her sweet voice followed by Parisara Bhushana Shivamallu's environment awareness words and a classic song before ending an eventful day.
